I ENTERED MY SUBMISSION FOR THE BE-STREET "BOOTLEG BART" ART COMPETITION YESTERDAY. THE SIMPSONS AND BART ESPECIALLY HAVE ALWAYS BROUGHT ME GREAT JOY. I GREW UP WITH THEM, THEY'RE LIKE ANOTHER FAMILY TO ME, I THINK IT'S SAFE TO SAY THEY HAVE BEEN LIKE THAT FOR MANY OTHERS TOO. THIS WAS SUCH A GREAT OPPORTUNITY FOR ME TO GET INVOLVED IN AND I LOOK FORWARD TO SEEING THE OTHER SUBMISSIONS. MY SUBMISSION WAS A PLAY ON BACK TO THE FUTURE 2, ANOTHER AMAZING 90's PIECE OF POP CULTURE. BARTY McFLY FLOATING THROUGH TIME ON HIS HOMER BOARD, ANTI GRAVITY DONUTS ATTACHED AND HOMER OF COUSRE TRYING TO GET A PIECE OF ONE. IF ALL GOES WELL I WILL BE POSTING AGAIN ASKING FOR YOUR VOTE FOR MINE IN THE FINAL 10 CHOSEN IN WHICH 5 WILL GO ON DISPLAY AT THE BE-STREET ART SHOW IN LOS ANGELES JULY 25-26, 2015 AND THEN AGAIN IN PARIS OCTOBER 3-4, 2015. WISH ME LUCK.
I've always been a fan of KAWS, especially since he grew up in the same city that I did. So when I was approached to do a KAWS style fireplace mural I was super pumped. I worked on this piece for roughly 65 hours over 8 days. This was my first mural of this size, pretty much my first mural at all. Come back and check on my page as I will be adding shots of the progress over that week as well as some cool time lapse footage of the job.
